Visit the Depot Museum (707)725-7645) in Fortuna’s Rohner Park to learn about the Friendly City’s past. The museum is inside the former Northwestern Pacific Railroad Fortuna train depot, curated by Dr. Alex Service.
Then take a short scoot to Scotia – the former company-town (10 miles south of Fortuna) and tour the Scotia Museum to see logging artifact,s and historic documents and photographs from the Pacific Lumber Company. On your way back to Fortuna, stop at Chapman’s Gem & Mineral Shop and check out the fossils on display (collected from the Scotia Bluffs) and other unique stones. For those who might be doing some hands on genealogy research, contact the Fortuna Cemetery District (707) 725-6459 to get information regarding the seven
cemeteries under its jurisdiction in Fortuna, Rohnerville, and Hydesville.
