Fortuna's 18th annual wine tasting and arts festival, "Art and Wine in the Park," will take place Sunday, June 8 in Rohner Park from 11-5. "Art and Wine in the Park" is organized by the Rotary Club of Fortuna.
Local and regional California wines are featured as well as Eel River Brewing Co. beers.
North Coast artists and craftspeople will display their work on the park grounds directly across from the wine tasting area. Photography, oil and acrylic paintings, woodcraft, ceramics, jewelry and folk crafts will be on display and for sale.
Rotary Club of Fortuna is offering a judged art show as part of the event. Winning pieces in the fine arts market will win a total of $500 in prize money.
Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars host a deep-pit barbecue in the picnic area next to the festival. Barbecued tri-tip along with salads, bread and desserts is served from noon to 4 p.m. Food booths with appetizers of barbecued oysters, chocolate dipped fruit, cheese and bread and kid friendly foods are also available in the festival site.
The Fortuna Rotary Club will hold a drawing for a selection of wine. Three winners will receive 50, 30 and 20 bottles, respectively.
Proceeds from the festival go to fund Fortuna Rotary's community projects. Admission to the festival is free. Festival-goers over 21 can purchase tasting glasses for $10 a piece at the event. Drawing tickets are $10. For more information call the Fortuna Chamber of Commerce at 725-3959.
